Asics Gel Landreth 6 Review

The Asics Gel Landreth 6 is the follow on model after the Landreth 5. They both feature Asics Gel technology but the latest model has a few features Asics wanted to add that made the shoe better. It’s been made for runners who have normal or high arches and runners who pronate normally to underpronate (sometimes called supinate). This shoe corrects the problem with the underpronation and is versatile enough to have the cushioning and support for normal runners.

Upper – The upper is an open mesh design with a synthetic leather overlay. The combination of these enable the feet to breathe in hot weather with a good fit and still remain light. The upper features a Biomorphic Fit which is a specially placed stretched material that reduces unnecessary buckling in the shoe and irritation in the feet. The collar has memory foam and runs to the back of the foot and down the heel for a personalized fit.

Heel and Forefoot – The heel and forefoot is where you’ll find the Gel technology. This cushioning is one that Asics have used in nearly all their running shoes. It creates the support and bounce back feeling you get in important parts of the shoe. In the forefoot the Gel packs help generate the propulsion for the toe off as you stride. The heel part of the shoe is designed to mold around the foot for a snug fit with no movement inside the shoe.

Midsole – The midsole is made of a special Solyte compound which is lighter than normal running shoes but still has the normal strength. There are components in the midsole that give improved support and stability in an important part of the shoe. You can find a Space Trusstic System which is a pocket between the Trusstic device and the midsole. This sounds complicated but it helps the shoe compact slowly when you land which is an advantage.

Outsole – The outsole is a Durasponge of Asics high abrasion rubber which gives durability in the sole but is still flexible. This encourages pronation that the underpronator needs. The outsole provides much of the cushioning in the shoe as well as the Gel packs. This is what makes an Asics running shoe superior to others. The sole itself provides traction and is designed to last especially in the heel area where it’s needed most.

Asics Gel Landreth 6 Conclusion

The Asics Gel Landreth 6 is a feature packed running shoe. It has all the latest technologies that Asics have developed. It’s very much like the Gel Nimbus 12 in that it’s good for underpronators and high arches but it’s $15 cheaper. It may not be as popular as the Nimbus 12 but if your budget will only stretch to $110 then you’ve got a perfectly good running shoe. The Asics Gel Landreth 6 as a running shoe deserves serious consideration.
