The ASICS GT-2000 9 has been described as a stability shoe but it has many motion control qualities with it's heel drop and overpronation features. The shoe represents a step up from the previous model. This is usually when new technology has been researched and that's what we have here.
For those who run regularly and on the road the ASICS GT-2000 9 is suitable for you. The grey/black is pictured here and is one of the 5 color combinations available for men. Women have 6 color combinations all in the typical ASICS style. They're designed for comfort where gentle and long distance runs come to mind.
As with usual running shoes the upper is a breathable mesh and synthetic. This is designed to make the shoes last longer. The laces tie up in a specific way to reduce tension which is what you want as you run. This includes the soft tongue. Comfort is a priority of the ASICS GT-2000 9 as well as providing a good running experience.
It's important that the structure is maintained in the upper and ASICS know this. They made sure the GT-2000 9 is tight and loose in particular areas. This means you can still run in a natural way without any unnecessary tension in your running shoes. The sock liner is antibacterial and helps prevent moisture which is good for regular runners.
ASICS are well known for their gel cushioning system, nearly all of their running shoes has it. They have this system in both the front and the back of the feet. This is for shock absorption as you land on the heel and the push back on the front of the feet. This is a very effective technology that is made up of silicone based gel.
The comfort is extended with gender specific cushioning in the forefoot. This ASICS GT-2000 9 shoe has even more technology. The FlyteFoam is a very light weight way of using fibers in the foam to make the support last longer. Because the shoe helps overpronators ASICS have used a system to help the heel to toe stride in what they call Dynamic DuoMax.
ASICS running shoes like most others, use high abrasion rubber in their soles. There's a slight difference in the heel and the forefoot though. The heel faces a lot of impact with hard surfaces and is made of carbon rubber. The forefoot is a blown rubber compound and is very common. It's more responsive which is needed at the front of the feet.
This is the ninth model in the GT-2000 series and there are subtle differences from the previous model. Therefore, if you're happy with the previous version then this one will delight you as well. Testers all seem to agree that they like the cushioning which is something ASICS have always been very good at. Everyone who's had their shoes will know the cushioned feeling.
The testers also like the durability so you have a long lasting shoe. It's a very stable ride on hard surfaces and you're ensured of a good run. Someone said the fit was tight at first but this was solved after a few runs when the shoe felt more "relaxed". There was minimal wear after 75 miles and that is to be expected in a durable shoe.
Reviews across the web are generally favorable of the ASICS GT-2000 9 shoe. It's especially good for running on hard surfaces which the brand advises of it's use that way too. If your feet roll excessively inward as you run them this shoe is for you. A lot of testers won't suit this shoe so reviews are mixed.
If you have low arches this shoe is ideal and is perfectly designed for you. You'll have less injuries as a result. For fitting I found 89% of users found it true to size. ASICS is a very popular running shoe brand so if you've had a well fitting shoe before then get the same size. Overall the GT-2000 series is worthy of your consideration.
